back in august, we traveled to south dakota to meet my sister's family. we visited the usual tourist attractions, including mount rushmore and crazy horse. my niece and nephew preferred the undoubtedly more blue-collar crazy horse memorial since samba was permitted (see picture above).
despite the lackluster motel with the nondescript strips malls and those crazy crickets, the family had a grand old time. the highlight may have been dinner at rapid city's premiere chinese restaurant where our friendly waiter shared with us his stories of his previous life in russia.
